The morning… It is my favorite time of the day. They are sacred to my heart. It allows me time to connect with myself before my day begins. It’s a time to start new and set my intentions for the coming day.

Once I changed my morning habit from the snooze button to jump out of my bed excited for the day – my life started to change.

As crazy as that sounds, it true. The most successful people on earth have a morning ritual. It is safe to say my routine has changed since I have moved to Bali.

This is my ritual living in Ubud, Bali I hope it inspires you to create your own.

I like to start my day early around 6.30 – 7 am. Just as the sun has come up and peaks through my window.  I like to wander out to my balcony and have a moment of peace looking out on to the greenery. I feel super grateful that I can now peer out on to the gorgeous nature first thing.

Being in a state of gratitude is incredibly important to me so I like to give thanks for being able to have another day on this wonderful planet earth. I sit and list 5 things I am grateful for at that moment whilst breathing deeply and slowly. It feels really good when you smile to yourself too. This shakes off any grouchy morning mood. We are always the happiest when we have a grateful mindset; a mindset of lack only creates sadness. You can write down each one or just think of them in your head.

For me stretching my body is so important. We have been lying down for several hours so it is crucial to stretch your muscles and shake off that stiffness. I take a handstand for a second to stabilize my muscles, handstands also work your abs, as well as well as your hip flexors, hamstrings, inner thigh muscles, obliques, and the lower back. Mine are not perfect yet but I keep trying until there are. That’s apart of every journey. Nothing is perfect straight away, keep at it.

Time to cleanse. I love the feeling of fresh water on my skin. I try to be mindful when cleansing and imagine washing away any stress or worries I may have.

I like to keep my skin routine very simple,  There are so many harsh chemicals on skin products so I only use natural cruelty vegan products on my face and body. I use an all natural salt soap along with The Body Shop and Alchemy forever products as they seem to make my skin so supple and glowy. Make sure you always use an SPF! Protect your skin, especially in the sun 🙂 Another one product wonder is all natural cold pressed coconut oil, great for body, hair and cooking.

Now I am ready for the next chapter of my ritual – A place where I feel most at home – a yoga studio. My whole spiritual journey started with yoga. I remember coming across the pose downward dog 4 years ago and practicing t every day. I had never stepped foot in a class until 2 years ago but now I can’t go a day without doing some form of yoga. Yoga balances me, encourages me to slow down, and breathe. Yoga is much more of a mindful practice than anything else. you work with your mind which influences your body. which is why I fell in love with the practice.

My favourite studio in Ubud right now is Saraswati yoga studio. Named after the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, art, wisdom, and learning, I feel connected to this studio. All the teachers are local Balinese teachers which I think is amazing. It is also the cheapest yoga classes in Ubud! My favourite class is the power yoga at 9am, it challenges me every morning, awakens my body whilst still being gentle on my mind.

Since moving to Bali, I can now end my morning where I feel most myself, in nature. within a 20 minute drive, I can swish my feet in beautiful breath taking waterfalls, drench and cleanse my hair in the water and take a minute to ground myself before continuing on with my day.

Now its time to let my thoughts wander away from me and just be. Meditation comes in many forms and you have to find yours. I like to count my breaths and when my mind wanders (which it will) I gently ask myself to come back to my breathe.

You can also use affirmations.

My favorite go-to chakra affirmations: “I am safe, I am creative, I am strong, I am loved, I am expressive, I am connected, I am Divine.”

Other times I like to use visualisation as a tool to manifest my future desires.  Imagine you achieving all that you lust for. Imagine you living that reality. Remember you are not your thoughts, you can be a watcher of your thoughts, breathe, let go, surrender spread love and accept each present moment.

Love & light,

Namaste,

Jess
